I don't think murray hates russians. i just think he prefers players like canadian players because they grew up here wishing to win a stanley cup and stuff like that whereas russians tend to be more the kind of players that are just out for more superficial things like the fame, and money. i guess more the money since fame doesn't really come with hockey for many teams.
lots of factors apply to calling up a player. the role he is expected to play, the position, his strengths and weaknesses. it's not like calling up a goalie.
coaches become GMs probably because they speak to the team owner, and the team owner notices that they make much more sense than the other guy, and that he'd be better off with his coach being the GM. so the owner gives the GM the boot and hires his head coach for the position.
you're talking of calling up one guy over another, and your supporting information i think is just goals scored, or stats. but there's more to figure out than that. plus you need to take into account players' weakness. because sometimes one thing will work well in the ahl, but against nhl defense, against bigger and stronger guys, it might not work so well.

Zubov will get his chance, I still think the changes Murray has made are good ones. The team just needs to learn how to play again..
I notice that at least once per game the Senators end up running around chasing after the puck, it is rather silly, but nothing seems to go right for them, sometimes it results in a goal against, like Higgins' second goal last night, or when we were on the powerplay...
We cant seem to do that to other teams.
I agree. although i think our roster is not the greatest, i still like what murray has done, but i don't really know what his other options would have been. i think everything was just really expensive, and given that, we got some good character guys.
what we're missing i really think is secod\ndary scoring and a puck moving defenseman.
i totally agree, we can't get the other team running around in their own zone. i think that can be attributed to 2 things. one, the other team is just really poised and sound defensively. something we need to work on. two, our puck movement is really quite bad. our passing game is not so hot. tape to tape passes? not that many, and that matters alot because it takes away your momentum on a rush. once we're in a zone we have trouble also our passing is ok aroudn the perimeter like on Power plays, but when it comes to activating plays we are not doing so hot. it's like our timing is off, and that takes 2 players, the receiver to be in the right place at the right time, because the window of opportunity is so small, and the passer to pass at the right speed to arrive at the receiver at the right time.
offensively i think those are two of the greatest weakness of vermette and fisher. maybe it's just a chemistry thing who knows. i heard on this board foligno would be on the top line, i guess with spezza and heatly. that's a good thing to try i find. we need poise and passing game i think right now. and continued effort and violence.
